Updating Atelier
Shopify tells you in Online Store > Themes when a new version is available.
What is kept
Your settings and your page composition are stored separately from the theme code, and Shopify carries them across when you update. Products, collections, menus, and pages are never touched.
What is not kept
Changes you made to the theme's code are not carried across. If you or a developer edited theme files, note those changes before updating, or ask the developer to reapply them afterwards.
The safe way to update
- Take the update. Shopify adds it to your theme library as a draft.
- Choose Customize on the new draft and check your home page, a product, a collection, and the cart.
- Check the same pages on a phone.
- Publish when you are satisfied. Your previous version stays in the library, so you can go back.
Version history
Release notes accompany each version in the theme library.
