Cart and checkout

Cart type

Theme settings > Cart > Cart type:

• Drawer slides in from the side when a shopper adds something. The cart page at /cart still works for anyone who goes there directly.
• Page takes the shopper to the cart page instead.

What the cart shows

• The product image, title, variant options, and any subscription plan
• Line-level discounts, with the amount saved
• The original price struck through when a discount applies
• Unit prices where they are required
• The subtotal, and whether tax is included
• Order-level discounts, listed separately

Discount codes are entered at checkout, which is where Shopify applies them. Automatic discounts appear in the cart as soon as they qualify.

Order note

Turn on Show order note to let shoppers add delivery instructions or a gift message. The note is saved as they type and appears on the order in your admin.

Accelerated checkout

Show accelerated checkout buttons puts Shop Pay, PayPal, and the other wallets you have enabled below the checkout button. Each shopper sees the method they use most. This is on by default.

Recommended products

Show recommended products in the cart drawer adds a short list of products related to what is already in the cart. Shopify chooses them.

Empty cart

The empty cart offers a link into the catalog and a way to search, rather than a dead end.
